Alongside core vocab, it’s important to choose motivating fringe vocab, personalised to the individual. This is a nice questionnaire to gather key words from parents and teachers to support children who use AAC. A little Americanised so may need adapted 😆 aackids.psu.edu/_userfiles/fil…

Looking forward to modelling a @FremantleSpeech Formulas For Frames lesson on Wednesday in Year 6! A highly-explicit approach to narrative writing that gives ample attention to the sentence level. @JennyBaker6661

A 1 minute reading automaticity assessment (called Oral Reading Fluency) is the best predictor of student's true comprehension.
A better predictor than retell, cloze, question answering. @janhasbrouck outlines how 40 years of research backs this up.

Tool of the Week
Useful Ideas
Fun activity, but I’d use one cup per grapheme (rather than onset-rime)
I prepped these phoneme substitution cups for next week.I’ll be using them a few different ways with my little learners! @OHEducation

Humming a tune to a baby. A child learning to play a musical instrument. These are just some of the ways music can bring calm, enjoyment and emotional connection to kids. And you don't need to be good at music to get a lot out of it.

Private Practice Tips
Clarity first:
"utilize" 👉 "use"
"however" 👉 "but"
"in order to" 👉 "to"
"in the event that" 👉 "if"
"has the ability to" 👉 "can"
"due to the fact that" 👉 "because"— Brooklin Nash (@realBrookNash)
