Banter Booster #55: SPAConf2024 Special Edition!
Useful things for busy speech pathologists.
6-BOOSTS TO START YOUR WEEK!
👋🏻 I’m David, and our team wants to share free, evidence-informed resources to help us all improve our skills and client care 🧾 🆓 🧑🎓
A bumper edition, thanks to our Senior SLPs, Juliana Li & Sasha Sugita!
1. 🆓Resources

2. 🆓 Technical Skills, & Training
A study by Lennox et al shows that the RAPT missed between 11 and 21% of monolingual students performing below expectations in oral narrative. My take on that is that the RAPT is not a good measure of Oral discourse nor is it Aus nor is it diagnostic.

4. 🔓Research
‼️🆕🆓🔓In @ASHAJournals' @SIGPerspectives Brosseau-Lapré & Roepke Preschoolers with more atypical & omission errors are more likely to have weak #PhonologicalAwareness. Some children with mostly substitutions, & many with SSD histories (resolved) do too.

Rather proud of 100 downloads in about 48 hours - hoping clinicians will find this pre-print useful while it is under review (narrative assessment) #LaLYP

6. Client perspectives and why I 😍 speech pathology!
Could your toddler finish your sentences?
I just love the game that this mother and son have created - in which 20-month-old Rustyn completes sentences in the voice of his mother.
Most than just a great expressive language activity, the game is a mirror on their tender… x.com/i/web/status/1…
