Great thread on supporting secondary students with reading challenges:
🧵 1. Saying secondary students with a low reading age need a ‘phonics only’ programme is like saying that if your car isn’t going well it must need more petrol. Phonics is necessary for reading – period – but it’s not sufficient, just as a car needs more than fuel to run.

Yet more reasons to thank each other more at work:
Being appreciated doesn't just make you feel good. It helps you get stronger.

Being thanked fortifies our bodies along with our bonds.

A growing literature base supports the inclusion of #sociolinguistic methods, but there remains a disconnect between the literature & clinical application -- one that current researchers & practitioners have an opportunity to address. https://s@SIGPerspectives

So excited to share this paper on supporting adjective learning in children with DLD. I learned so much from the team (@Cat_Davies@nicoll_hilary@kristensyrett@SarahWhiteSLT@CeciZunigaM).
Adjectives may now be my new passion!

They became weak, as did many strong verbs in the history of English.
What would their strong forms have been if they'd still been alive?
Here are eleven hypothetical strong paradigms:
